The data on this website is processed by the BonaRes Centre for Soil Research, whose contact information is available under the “Imprint” on this website.


How do we record your data?
We collect your data as a result of your sharing of your data with us. This may, for instance be information you enter into our contact form. Our IT systems automatically record other data when you visit our website. This data comprises primarily technical information (e.g. web browser, operating system or time the site was accessed). This information is recorded automatically when you access our website.


What are the purposes we use your data for?
A portion of the information is generated to guarantee the error free provision of the website (e.g. user administration). Other data may be used to analyze your user patterns in order to optimize the user-friendliness of our websites.


What rights do you have as far as your information is concerned?
You have the right to receive information about the source, recipients and purposes of your archived personal data at any time without having to pay a fee for such disclosures. You also have the right to demand that your data are rectified, blocked or eradicated. Analysis tools and tools provided by third parties
There is a possibility that your browsing patterns will be statistically analysed when your visit our website. Such analyses are performed primarily with cookies (session-cookies) and with what we refer to as analysis programmes. 2. General information and mandatory information

Data protection
Your privacy and the protection of your research - and metadata are important to us - we respect and protect your privacy and handle your data confidentially, taking into account the applicable legal provisions and this Privacy Policy.
The term “personal data” comprises all data that can be used to personally identify you (e. g. name, institutional affiliation, postal and email address). The processing of your personal data includes the data capturing, storing, use and further processing. Your research- and metadata you submit will be collected and stored by the BonaRes Data Centre in accordance with the rules in the BonaRes Data Guideline (see BonaRes Portal: Research Data/Data Guide).
By your use of the BonaRes - Websites you agree with the processing of your personal, research and metadata in the context of this privacy policy. The uses of the BonaRes - Web pages are generally possible without providing any personal information. Some of the personal data requested for registration in the Project Portal (e.g. name, organization or email address) are optional. No user data will be disclosed to third parties without an explicit agreement of the user (Art.6 Abs.1 lit. A DSGVO).
We want to explicitly point out that data transfer on the internet (e. g. during download or in email communication) may have security gaps. Complete protection of data against access by third parties is therefore not possible and is not guaranteed.
We hereby expressly prohibit the use of the contact data published as part of our duty to publish an imprint for the purpose of sending any advertising or informational material that was not expressly requested. The service provider of the BonaRes Web-Portal reserves the right to take legal action in case of unsolicited sending of advertising and information material, for instance by spam emails.


Revocation of your consent to the processing of data
A wide range of data processing transactions are possible only subject to your express consent. You can also revoke at any time any consent you have already given us. To do so, all you are required to do is sent us an informal notification via e-mail. This shall be without prejudice to the lawfulness of any data collection that occurred prior to your revocation. The research and metadata you have posted will remain available even after the end of the BonaRes project period. The research and metadata you submit to us will remain available after the end of the BonaRes project.


Right to log a complaint with the competent supervisory agency

Furthermore, you have the right to file complaints with regulatory authorities. If there has been a breach of data protection legislation, the person affected may file a complaint with the competent regulatory authorities. The competent regulatory authority for matters related to data protection legislation is the data protection officer of Brandenburg (Germany), the state in which the ZALF is headquartered. Right to data portability
You have the right to demand that we hand over any data we automatically process on the basis of your consent or in order to fulfil a contract be handed over to you or a third party in a commonly used, machine readable format. If you should demand the direct transfer of the data to another controller, this will be done only if it is technically feasible.


SSL and/or TLS encryption
For security reasons and to protect the transmission of confidential content, such as purchase orders or inquiries you submit to us as the website operator, this website uses either an SSL or a TLS encryption program. You can recognize an encrypted connection by checking whether the address line of the browser switches from “http://” to “https://” and also by the appearance of the lock icon in the browser line.
If the SSL or TLS encryption is activated, data you transmit to us cannot be read by third parties.

4. Recording of data on our website

Cookies

This data is not merged with other data sources.
This data is recorded on the basis of Art. 6 Sect. 1 lit. f GDPR. The operator of the website has a legitimate interest in the technically error free depiction and the optimization of the operator’s website. In order to achieve this, server log files must be recorded.


Contact form
If you submit inquiries to us via our contact form, the information provided in the contact form as well as any contact information provided therein will be stored by us in order to handle your inquiry and in the event that we have further questions. We will not share this information without your consent.
Hence, the processing of the data entered into the contact form occurs exclusively based on your consent (Art. 6 Sect. 1 lit. a GDPR). You have the right to revoke at any time any consent you have already given us. To do so, all you are required to do is sent us an informal notification via e-mail. This shall be without prejudice to the lawfulness of any data collection that occurred prior to your revocation.
The information you have entered into the contact form shall remain with us until you ask us to eradicate the data, revoke your consent to the archiving of data or if the purpose for which the information is being archived no longer exists (e.g. after we have concluded our response to your inquiry). This shall be without prejudice to any mandatory legal provisions – in particular retention periods.

 

Registration on this website
You have the option to register on our website (Data Repository, Knowledge-Library, Newsletter) to be able to use additional website functions. For the purpose of user administration, we store at least your user name, password and e-mail address. These personal data will not be merged with other data sources. We shall use the data you enter only for the purpose of using the respective offer or service you have registered for. The required information we request at the time of registration must be entered in full. Otherwise we shall reject the registration.


To notify you of any important changes to the scope of our portfolio or in the event of technical modifications, we shall use the e-mail address provided during the registration process. In order to promote scientific exchange and networking, we optionally collect additional personal data (e.g. institution, intended use of research data). This personal data will only be passed on with your consent and only to the provider of the research data you have requested.
If you wish to use our services to provide research data and metadata, you must first register at our user administration. The personal data you enter in the registration form will remain with us until you request deletion.

 

Setting up a user account (Data Repository).

Setting up a BonaRes user account is required for the publication of research data. The following data is needed for this:

  • E-mail address,

  • First name, surname,

  • project,

  • ORCID

The legal basis is Art. 6 para. 1 f GDPR. Our legitimate interest arises from the fact that a user account is technically required to use the BonaRes services.

 

Publication of data in the BonaRes Repository

We process the data from your scientific work, as well as the following information:

  • E-mail address,

  • First name, surname,

  • project,

  • ORCID

This is done for the purpose of publishing your data within the BonaRes Data Repository for scientific purposes, in accordance with our service description. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Our legitimate interest arises from the fulfillment of the scientific purpose.
Upon publication, your data related to your scientific work will be available on the internet and accessible to an indefinite number of people worldwide. You may object to this processing at any time and request deletion under the conditions of Art. 21 GDPR.

 

Privacy notice for co-authors

You were named as a co-author by the lead author of a publication, and the following data about you was provided:

  • E-mail address,

  • First name, surname,

  • project,

  • ORCID

Your data will be published within the BonaRes Data Repository for scientific purposes. The publication of your data in the BonaRes Data Repository is necessary at least to protect the legitimate interests of the author, therefore we base this processing on Article 6(1)(f) of the GDPR. Upon publication, your data will be available on the internet and accessible to an indefinite number of people worldwide. You may object to this processing at any time and request deletion under the conditions of Art. 21 GDPR.

 

Google

We use various services from "Google". Google is a group of several companies. We will inform you which company is specifically responsible for the service used and the associated data processing in the respective service description. Unless otherwise stated below, Google Ireland Limited, Gordon House, Barrow Street, Dublin 4, Ireland is responsible for data processing.

By visiting our website, Google receives the information that you have accessed the corresponding sub-page of our website. Unless otherwise described below, at least the data mentioned in section 3 will be transmitted to Google. This occurs regardless of whether Google provides a user account through which you are logged in or whether no user account exists. If you are logged in to Google, your data will be directly assigned to your account. If you do not want the assignment with your profile at Google, you must log out before activating the button. Google stores your data as usage profiles and may use them for purposes of advertising, market research and/or demand-oriented design of its services. You have the right to object to the creation of these user profiles, whereby you must contact Google to exercise this right. Google transmits the data about your usage behavior in particular to Google LLC for independent processing by them.

Google may transmit your data to servers worldwide. This also includes locations in countries without an adequate level of data protection. For the data transfer, e.g. to the USA, Google has concluded so-called standard data protection clauses in accordance with Art. 46 (2) lit. c GDPR.

We have no influence on the further data processing by Google, beyond the stated purposes. The information provided therefore only represents our current state of knowledge.

5. Social media

We have discontinued the use of 'X' and no longer process any data through this service.

6. Analysis tools

Matomo

Our website uses Matomo (formerly Piwik), an open source software from InnoCraft Ltd, 150 Willis St, 6011 Wellington, New Zealand, for statistical evaluation of visitor access. 

You have the option to control the activation and the associated evaluation of your usage behavior via the consent management  at the beginning of your website visit. This means that when you visit our site, no personal data is initially evaluated unless you have consented to this. Insofar as you have consented to the activation, data will be processed as follows:

Matomo uses cookies that are stored on your computer and that enable an anonymized analysis of your use of the website. The information generated by the cookie about website usage is transmitted to our servers and summarized in pseudonymous usage profiles. It is not possible to draw conclusions about a specific person, as your IP address is anonymized immediately after processing and before storage.

Alternatively, most modern browsers have a so-called "Do Not Track" option, with which you tell websites not to track your user activities. Matomo respects this option. 

7. Newsletter

Newsletter data
If you would like to subscribe to the newsletter offered on this BonaRes-website, we will need from you an e-mail address as well as information that allow us to verify that you are the owner of the e-mail address provided and consent to the receipt of the newsletter. To ensure that you have personally triggered a newsletter request, we will send you an e-mail with an activation link (double opt-in). Only after you have confirmed the activation link the registration is successfully completed.
No further data shall be collected or shall be collected only on a voluntary basis. We shall use such data only for the sending of the requested information and shall not share such data with any third parties.
The processing of the information entered into the newsletter subscription form shall occur exclusively on the basis of your consent (Art. 6 Sect. 1 lit. a GDPR). You may revoke the consent you have given to the archiving of data, the e-mail address and the use of this information for the sending of the newsletter at any time, for instance by clicking on the "Unsubscribe" link in the newsletter. This shall be without prejudice to the lawfulness of any data processing transactions that have taken place to date.
The data you archive with us for the purpose of the newsletter subscription shall be archived by us until you unsubscribe from the newsletter. Once you cancel your subscription to the newsletter, the data shall be deleted. This shall not affect data we have been archiving for other purposes.

8. Plug-ins and Tools

YouTube

Our BonaRes-website uses plug-ins of the YouTube platform, which is operated by Google. The website operator is YouTube, LLC, 901 Cherry Ave., San Bruno, CA 94066, USA.
If you visit a page on our website into which a YouTube plug-in has been integrated, a connection with YouTube’s servers will be established. As a result, the YouTube server will be notified, which of our pages you have visited.
Furthermore, YouTube will be able to place various cookies on your device. With the assistance of these cookies, YouTube will be able to obtain information about our website visitor. Among other things, this information will be used to generate video statistics with the aim of improving the user friendliness of the site and to prevent attempts to commit fraud. These cookies will stay on your device until you delete them.
If you are logged into your YouTube account while you visit our site, you enable YouTube to directly allocate your browsing patterns to your personal profile. You have the option to prevent this by logging out of your YouTube account.
