Long-term effects of different land use on the agroecosystem can be studied particularly well in long-term experiments (LTE). To make better use of LTEs, they should meet certain requirements. For this reason, an international team of scientists from different disciplines has drafted a position on the implementation of LTEs, which considers both the requirements for statistics and design as well as aspects of the recording of soil and plant parameters and the archiving of samples.
